From the early 1800's, the Chesuncook area has been the focus of a thriving logging business. The last long logs flushed down river to Bangor around the turn of the century, and 4' pulp wood seen in many photos here was "boomed" down the lake and flushed down river through a series of dams all the way to the mills in Bangor.
